Hampi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. It is also known as Kishkindha in Ramayana. It is situated on the banks of the Tungabhadra river. In Ramayana, this river was known as Pampa. Now only ruins are left here. Looking at it, it seems that it was a prosperous empire established at this place. Thousands of tourists visit Hampi.
