Dehradun, Capital of Uttarakhand

Dehradun is a city and the capital of Uttarakhand state in northern India. The Uttarakhand (Uttaranchal - Old Name) is established as the new state of India on 9 November 2000. There are many educational institutions in Dehradun i.e Forest Research Institute, Indian Military Academy, Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Uttarakhand Ayurveda University, Rashtriya Indian Military College, Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, etc. It is the gateway to many tourist places and pilgrimage sites of Uttarakhand. Mussoorie, Dhanaulti, Chakrata, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Tehri, and Harsil are the top hill stations which are well connected to Dehradun by road. Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand – Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath is well connected to Dehradun city and airport. This is the main helipad for Chardham Yatra by helicopter.
