Why is this place named Badrinath?

When Nar-Narayan were in their childhood they started penance here. Due to the falling temperature, snowfall started there. Mother Lakshmi ji protected Vishnu ji, who was doing penance in the form of Narayana by becoming a plum tree i.e. Bari, from snow, heat, storm, and rain. The plum tree is known by the name of Badri. Due to this, the name of the place was Badrinath Dham.
