Safari bookings can be made through the official Rajaji Tiger Reserve website. Children below 12 years of age generally do not have to pay an entry fee, subject to the latest government rules.
The Chilla Range is one of the most popular safari zones and is situated on the eastern bank of the River Ganga. It is well-known for elephant sightings, bird watching, and scenic forest landscapes.
Motichur Wildlife Sanctuary, covering nearly 90 square kilometers, was carved out of the Dehradun Forest Division in 1966. It later became part of Rajaji National Park and is famous for its rich wildlife habitat.
Chaurasi Kutiya, also known as the Beatles Ashram area, is another important zone within Rajaji Tiger Reserve. The name refers to the eighty-four meditation huts that once served spiritual seekers and visitors.
Rajaji National Park remains open for tourists from 15 November to 15 June. During the monsoon season (mid-June to mid-November), the park remains closed due to heavy rainfall and wildlife conservation activities. The winter and spring months are considered the best time for wildlife sightings and jungle safaris.
Rajaji National Park is easily accessible from Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Dehradun. The Chilla Gate is located just a few kilometers from Haridwar on the Haridwar–Rishikesh road. Visitors can also enter the park through gates near Dehradun. The nearest railway stations are Haridwar Junction and Dehradun Railway Station, while Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun, is the nearest airport.
