The Golden Temple is a Sikhism spiritual place in Amritsar. It is a Gurdwara of Sri Harmandir Sahib. It is one of the important Gurdwara and also know as Darbar Sahib or Golden Temple. This is the biggest attraction of Amritsar. The city of Amritsar is surrounded by the Golden Temple. Guru Ramdas laid its foundation. He was the fourth Guru of Sikhism. The outer part of this Gurdwara is made of gold, hence it is known as the Golden Temple. This Gurdwara is in the middle of a lake. This lake was built by Guru Ramdas, the fourth Guru of Sikhism. The name of this lake is Amrit, from which the city of Amritsar got its name Amrit. People keep coming here throughout the year. Amritsar City situated in Punjab is known as the Golden Temple and tourists come here from far and wide.
Jallianwala Bagh is a small garden near the Golden Temple in Amritsar. People who go to the Golden Temple also go there. On 13 April 1919, in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, the British Army opened fire on unarmed people, killing hundreds and thousands of injuring many. A meeting was being held to protest against the Royal Act when General Dyer opened fire on the meeting.
Wagah Border is an Indian Army post on the India-Pakistan border. It is just 32 km from Amritsar and 24 km from Lahore, Pakistan. Attari is the nearest village to India which is just 3 km from the border. Flag ceremony takes place here every day. For this, many Indians from India and many Pakistanis from Pakistan enjoy the flag ceremony. The Wagah-Attari border ceremony takes place every day before sunset.
