Joshimath is a town in the district of Chamoli district of Uttarakhand state in India. Adi Shankaracharya attained enlightenment here and his first Math is here. It has been a center of attention since ancient times and is the gateway to Niti Valley, Auli, Badrinath, and the Valley of Flowers. The very famous temple of Shri Narasimha Temple, the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu is situated in Joshimath. People keep coming to the Nursing Temple throughout the year for darshan. When people come to visit Badrinath, many people visit here. The throne(Gaddi) of Badrinath rests in the temple of Lord Narsingh in the winter season. Joshimath is a major attraction for tourists visiting Auli. The Cable Car also runs from here to Auli. It remains cool throughout the year and the atmosphere looks pleasant and picturesque.
The nearest airport is at Dehradun and railway stations are at Rishikesh and Haridwar. Reaching Joshimath by Road Delhi is well connected to Joshimath. Delhi to Joshimath is approximately 490 km via NH 7 road. It is very difficult to stay on the road without stopping. For a good and comfortable journey, you will have to have night stay in Haridwar and Rishikesh. Next day drive from Haridwar to Joshimath which is about 280 km from here.
